According to a report in a Venezuelan newspaper, Líder de Deportes, Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco needs Tommy John surgery.
The report cites a friend of Carrasco's telling the paper "Carlos called me yesterday and told me that it seems they're going to perform Tommy John (surgery) on him."
Carrasco hasn't pitched since August 3 because of elbow inflammation. If he needs surgery, Carrasco probably wouldn't be able to pitch until 2013.
In 21 starts this season, Carrasco is 8-9 with a 4.62 ERA.
