ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - Construction delays and the need to ensure proper working order of safety and security systems in Phase II of the Elyria High School project are requiring school district officials to delay the start of school for Elyria High School students.
Elyria High School will open for students on Friday, September 9. Elyria High School is the only building in the district affected by this delay. All other schools will open as scheduled on September 6th.
The Elyria High School student orientation program that was originally planned for Tuesday, September 6, is cancelled. Elyria High School students should report to EHS on Friday, September 9, for grade-level orientations. Freshmen should report to the Performing Arts Center on September 9, at 9a.m., and will be released at 11:30a.m. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors should arrive at 1p.m. for an open house and building tours. ALL Elyria High School students will follow their normal schedule of classes on Monday, September 12.
In delaying the start of school until Friday, September 9, Elyria High School will use three calamity days.
