The Indians activated 2B Jason Kipnis from the 15-day Disabled List. The club also recalled Luis Valbuena from Triple-A Columbus.
Kipnis is hitting .279 with 4 doubles, 6 home runs, 14 runs scored and 11 RBI's in 18 games for the Indians this season. He has been on the DL since August 14, straining his right hamstring prior to the game on August 18 against the White Sox.
He homered in 4 straight games from July 31-August 3, becoming just the second Indians rookie ever and first since 1950 to do so.
Valbuena has spent the majority of the season in Columbus where he has hit .302 with 64 runs scored, 22 doubles, 17 homers and 75 RBI's in 113 games. He currently ranks 11th in the International League in average, tied for 11th in RBI, 15th in HR and hits and 13th in OPS.
He has appeared in 75 games at shortstop, 15 games at third base, 8 games at second base and 11 in left field.
With Cleveland this year he has hit .125 with 2 runs scored in 11 games over three previous stints at the big league level.
