Windy City Wipeout! Tribe Crushed By Sox

Chicago (WOIO) - Instead of fighting for first place, the Indians now find themselves duking it out for second, and obviously the Chicago White Sox plan on holding on to that.

After Jim Thome gave the Indians the early lead with an RBI single in the first on Thursday night, the White Sox answered by scoring the next eight, including seven runs in the 7th, as they blew the game open and cruised to a 8-1 win at U.S. Cellular Field.

Brent Morel provided much of the spark, with a solo home run off David Huff in the third to tie the game at one, and a three-run blow off Frank Hermann in the 7th to give the Sox the lead for good.

The loss leaves the Indians 10 games back of first-place Detroit in the A.L. Central, and 1.5 games behind the second-place White Sox.
