Ed O'Neill received the 2,446th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame honoring a career highlighted by his portrayal of shoe salesman Ed Bundy on the TV comedy "Married...With Children."
"I cannot wait to walk on him. I love you, Ed. I love you," joked his "Married" co-star Katy Sagal.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, O'Neill played football at Youngstown State University. After being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers during their 1969 training camp, O'Neill returned to Youngstown State and was one of the first students in its theater program.
He is currently seen on the award-winning sitcom "Modern Family" in the role of Jay Pritchett, for which he received Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. His character is married to a young woman, played by Sofia Vergara. O'Neill said he likes having a younger television wife.
"You know, I can't help but thinking right now, as I'm standing here, it's a bit emotional, that somewhere in the world, at this moment, in a hospital, a beautiful, little baby girl is being born and when she grows up, she's going to be my next wife on TV and I'm looking forward," said O'Neill.
