Browns sign Brad Maynard to replace McGee

Report: Brad Maynard will be the Browns new punter Report: Brad Maynard will be the Browns new punter

The Browns have signed former Giants and Bears punter Brad Maynard, and have placed punter Richmond McGee on Injured Reserve.

During his Monday press conference Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said "I wouldn't say (McGee) has lost his job right now, but we're evaluating him."

McGee punted eight times on Sunday against the Bengals for a 36.0-yard average.  However, he had three punts travel 30 yards or less.

Maynard had a 40.1 average last season with Chicago.  He's played 14 seasons in the NFL, the last 10 with Chicago.  He was in camp with the Texans but was waived at the end of camp.

The Browns return to action on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts at 1 PM.  You can watch the game only on CBS 19.
