Dangerous fugitive with ties to 2009 murder sought after burglarizing ex-girlfriend

(WOIO) - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Billy Jordan Gilbert.

Gilbert is wanted by the U.S. Marshals, and the Lorain Police Department for burglary.  Gilbert is accused of breaking into the home of an ex-girlfriend who had previously filed a temporary protection order against Gilbert, while she was home asleep, and threatened to harm her.  He stole miscellaneous items from the home and sliced her tires after leaving the residence.

In addition, Gilbert is wanted by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office for Contempt of Court for a 2009 Homicide.  Gilbert is one of five Lorain men accused of the October 2009 murder of Eric Witcher.  Witcher died from injuries after he was badly beaten outside Luna del Mar bar in South Lorain. Gilbert has a lengthy criminal history that includes many violent offenses.  Gilbert should be approached with caution.

Gilbert is a 26-year-old black male standing approximately 5'09", and weighing 160 pounds.  He has brown hair and has brown eyes.  Gilbert has previously resided in the in the 800 block of Lexington Avenue and the 3500 block of Pearl Avenue in Lorain.
