The Cleveland Cavaliers' new NBA Development League franchise in Canton will hold open player tryouts in Canton and Cleveland. Open tryouts will offer players the opportunity to showcase their talents and earn an invitation to the team's official training camp in November.
"The open tryout process is an important part of our launch and a good way to evaluate additional talent on the court. It will be a great opportunity for players to make their case for an invitation to our training camp," said Canton General Manager Wes Wilcox.
The Cleveland tryout will begin on Saturday, Oct. 8 and continue on Sunday, Oct. 9 at St. Ignatius High School (1911 West 30th St. Cleveland, Ohio 44113).
The Canton tryout will begin on Saturday, Oct. 15 and continue on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse (1815 Harrison Ave. NW Canton, OH 44708).
Each tryout participant must be available to participate on both Saturday and Sunday of their respective tryout weekend.
All applicants must be eligible to play in the NBA D-League and should pre-register by Thursday, October 6th for the Cleveland tryouts or Thursday, October 13 for the Canton tryouts by submitting the official registration forms and a $150 fee. The fee increases to $200 at the door on-site at the tryouts. Information about the tryouts, registration forms and payment options and instructions are available online at www.CantonNBA.com or at the Canton team office located inside the Canton Memorial Civic Center, 1101 Market Avenue North, Canton, OH 44702.
