Ohio State Highway patrol involved in three-car crash on I-71

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper injured while making a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

The three-car crash happened around 4:45AM on I-71 North near Bagley.

Motorist 30-year-old Eyob Gebregiorgis was being pulled over for weaving and just stopped in the middle lane of I-71. Trooper John Beeler pulled behind him and both Beeler and Gebregiorgis were outside their vehicles standing in front of the cruiser.

51-year-old Robert Noll was driving northbound on 71 when he struck the cruiser, causing it to move forward and hit both men.

Both the trooper and Gebregiorgis received minor injuries and were treated and released from Southwest General Hospital.

Noll was not injured. He was cited for not stopping his vehicle in an assured clear distance.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
