Closer Look: Juvenile crime stats in Cleveland

19 Action News is digging deeper into the safety of your streets and we found something very hard to believe.

So much gunfire with so many young thugs and yet Cuyahoga County crime stats show juvenile violent crime is down.

We looked at  looking at murder, serious assault and weapons.

How many cases taken thru juvenile court last year compared to how many cases through August of this year.

The results: homicide down slightly, felony assault down about 11% and weapons possession is down about 20%.

One veteran juvenile court administrator says we may be simply seeing a sudden spike.

But for the mother of a young girl murdered, the analysis is simple.

"I wish we could get down to the bottom of it not just my child others well-being too many kids getting hurt. So much going on," said Deanna Nelson.
