CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (WOIO) - One man has been arrested after Cuyahoga Falls Police stopped him for speeding and ended up locating an active meth lab in the trunk of the car.
Bright Rothhaas, 32, of Akron has been charged with drug trafficking, illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal assembly of drugs, drug abuse, along with other felony and traffic violations.
Police say Rothhaas was stopped by a patrol officer around 9:30am Saturday morning on the southbound S.R. 8 exit ramp at Howe Ave. He had a suspended license and a warrant for his arrest from Tallmadge Police.
Rothhaas was taken into custody. During a inventory of the car and his property, officers discovered numerous items related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine as well as finished product.
Detectives from the Cuyahoga Falls Narcotics Unit and the Summit County Drug Task Force responded and located an active meth lab in the trunk of the vehicle. The exit ramp was closed for approximately 1 ½ hours while officers dismantled the lab and made the scene safe. The Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department was on scene while this took place. The exit ramp was opened again around 12:45pm.
Police say seized items included $535, digital scales and two cell phones.
