RITTMAN, OH (WOIO)
A disturbing discovery in Rittman.
19 Action News has learned human remains have been found in an isolated wooded area of the Wayne County city.
A hunter found the human remains on Tuesday.
All day Wednesday Rittman Police Detectives and Agents with the State's Bureau of Criminal Investigations have been in and out of the 12 acres that Morton Salt officials call part of their evaporting facility. You will find wells, a lot of water and woods.
Only a few Morton Salt employees ever drive down the dirt road.
"Basically we found human remains. We are now in a archeological dig. BCI is back there they are doing most of that. It's just slow and tedious. We really don't have any answers," said Sgt. Roger Pauley.
The discovery was made following a report from a Rittman resident.
The identity, gender, age or other description of the remains is still unknown.
