A two-time "Mr. Football" winner, on the run after being accused in a terrifying home invasion in North Canton, talked EXCLUSIVELY to 19 Action News anchor Sharon Reed just moments before he turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.

20-year-old Erick Howard is now locked up in the Stark County Jail.

Before surrendering Howard told Sharon that he's turning himself in "because I wanted to let everyone know that I was not running and that I'm trying to clear my family's name which is why I'm turning myself in today."

When Howard was asked if there was anything else he wants to say regarding all of the allegations out there, Howard says "people are gonna talk, people are gonna assume anything what they want.  I know the truth and that's all that matters."

Police say this past August, Howard and 19-year-old Seth Obermiller broke into a home on Sunford Avenue SE while the residents were asleep.

The suspects tied the victims' hands and feet with duct tape and held guns to their heads while demanding money and cell phones. Next, they sexually assaulted the female victim.

A third man, Michael Taylor, acted as the look-out.

Obermiller and Taylor are already behind bars.
