Peeping perv sent to the slammer

Judgment day for a peeping pervert. Steven Barrett sentenced to serve seven years in prison.

On May 5th, two women notified Euclid Police that they had been the victims of voyeurism. Each victim had resided with Barrett temporarily between January and May of 2011.

They did not know each other and were not staying with Barrett at the same time. Shortly after moving in, one of the victims noticed the metal disc located beneath the bath faucet appeared to have been tampered with. She looked through the opening and saw something reflective. In May 2010, she removed the bathtub plumbing access panel and discovered a hole.

Euclid Police obtained a search warrant which was executed at Barrett's residence on May 6th, 2011. Officers located a peephole and seized many items of evidence including computers, hard drives, cameras and lenses, video cameras, and CDs and DVDs.

On October 13th, 33-year-old Barrett pleaded guilty to nine counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, two counts of voyeurism, and one count of possessing criminal tools.

Barrett will be required to register as a Tier II Sexual Offender.
