Exclusive: East Cleveland Police think they know who killed a Shaw High School student

EAST CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

East Cleveland Police believe another teenager shot and killed Demetri Mayers, 17.

19 Action News Investigative Reporter Scott Taylor was the first to name the prime suspect.

Demetri was a student at Shaw High School. On December 21st, the teenager was shot several times at 14780 Elderwood Avenue. Police were called to the area for shots fired, and found Demetri laying on the ground. He was transported to Metro, where he died.

Demetri had been on his way to spend Christmas with his mom in Atlanta, when he was shot.

East Cleveland Police say Duwann Lee, 17, is their number one suspect. Demetri's mom and dad say the suspect was someone their son called his friend. He was at Demetri's dad's place just hours before the murder.

Lee also goes by the nick name Whan-Whan.

East Cleveland Police believe somebody is hiding Lee.
