Homeowner shoots teens after busting them breaking into his house

It was not a good Christmas for two Cleveland punks.

Cops found two 16-year-olds in the front yard of E. 144th Street home - both had been shot in the legs.

Police say the man who lives at 3624 East 144th was at home when he heard his burglar alarm go off. He grabbed his gun, started looking around and that's when he saw the two teens trying to steal property from his home, so he shot them.

According to cops, there were two other juveniles acting as lookouts, but they ran when they heard the shots fired.

The two suspects were placed under arrest and are recovering at MetroHealth Medical Center.

Neighbors say they've noticed cops keeping a closer eye on their homes since the break-in.

"They told us yesterday (Sunday) they're going to be making frequent rounds," said one anxious neighbor.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information about this incident to contact the Fourth District Detective Bureau at 216.623.5418.
