Christmas Day fire kills five cats and leaves two families homeless

A Christmas Day fire has left two west side families homeless.

The fire started Sunday afternoon at 3195 W. 121st Street then quickly spread to the home right next door.

Five cats died in the fire but luckily no one was seriously injured.

One person was transported to Metro. Andrew Thomas is being treated for smoke inhalation.

Seven people are receiving help from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
