Thieves caused a gas leak which closed down several streets on Cleveland's east side Thursday.
Police shut down Farringdon Avenue, near Union, Thursday afternoon.
Crews on the scene say a home at 12313 Farringdon, the source of the leak, was cordoned off. Authorities say someone stole copper piping causing gas to leak into the air.
A few nearby homes and an apartment building were evacuated as a precaution.
The Fire Dept. along with Cleveland Public Power and Dominion responded to the scene and shut the gas off.
No one was injured and police are looking for suspects.
