Cleveland red light and speed camera tickets on the decline

Cleveland drivers complain about the red light cameras in downtown, but fewer are getting tickets!

19 Action News has found the amount of money from red light and speed camera fines keep dropping.

In 2011, Cleveland City Hall reported $5.3 million in revenue from traffic camera tickets. $6.6 million in fines was reported for 2010 and $7.2 million in 2009.

So what's the deal? Are drivers figuring out when and where to slow down? Could it have to do with Cleveland's decreasing population? Maybe it's because of all the construction zones where the cameras are shut off?

Tickets may be dropping, but 42 red light and speed cameras are still on the prowl.
