Family robbed at gunpoint inside Elyria home

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - An Elyria family robbed at gunpoint during a terrifying home invasion.

It happened January 4th shortly after 10PM on Marseilles Avenue.

According to the police report, two teens were in the home's living room when they heard a knock at the door. When they answered the door, two armed, masked men burst inside, and demanded to know where their father was.

The teens took one of the suspects upstairs to the father. The suspect demanded the father give him everything and also rifled through several bedroom drawers. Two young children were in the next bedroom and made to go into the same room as the suspect, father and teens.

The mother arrived home at this time, and was greeted by the suspect downstairs. She pleaded with him to get her children, and he complied.

Both suspects then fled on foot.

As the thugs were fleeing, one of the teens shouted the police were called, and one of the thugs fired a shot towards the direction of the home.

Officers learned the suspects pocketed the father's wallet, cash and numerous pre-paid credit cards.

The first suspect is described as a heavy set man, about 6'00" tall wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark colored hat and either a white mask with red lettering. The second suspect was described as a skinny man, about 6'00", wearing all dark clothing and a dark mask over his face.  Both suspects were wearing gloves.
