I-76 reopened after overnight Hazmat situation

A morning mess for commuters in Portage County after a tanker truck carrying a highly flammable liquid tipped over in Brimfield Township.

It happened shortly after 11PM on I-76 west. Officials say a small amount of Diisobutylene spilled onto the highway and it has been contained. Diisobutylene is highly flammable and can be sparked by high heat and flames.

The mess was cleaned up and the road was reopened around 8:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The driver of the tanker truck has been cited for impaired alertness.
