Community rallies behind family members as they deal with the grief of a murdered teen

LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) - A 17-year old teen was among two people who were shot last week in Lakewood. The teen died and now an entire community is rallying for a life cut short.

While cops continue their investigation, family and friends of Charles Wilson gathered to remember "Chuckie" -- leaving gifts, letters and writing poems.

Wilson was shot in the head last Friday and his brother Frederick Burt was shot in the leg. The shooting happened on Waterbury. Family members are still trying to figure out why the two were even there.

"They really did my brother wrong. Did they not know he had family out there?" asked Jonnazha Jefferson. "This was not supposed to happen to him."

The grief is so profound, raw and overwhelming and the investigation into Wilson's death is secondary to the loss.

"I haven't even thought about that right now, I'm trying to bury my nephew peacefully," said Veronica Walters.

As the rain continued to fall it was overshadowed by the tears of sadness -- by those who loved Chuckie.

Cops have arrested a 25-year old man and he has been charged with murder.  While investigators have no motive they say there has been a lot of drug activity in that area.
