LAKE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that spilled about 200 gallons of diesel fuel and shut down parts of Interstate 90.
The crash happened just before 6:30PM in Leroy Township. Damonte M. Moss, 27, of Atlanta, Georgia was driving on I-90 westbound when he lost control of the truck and struck a concrete barrier. Both fuel tanks were punctured and an estimated 200 gallons of diesel spilled onto the highway. The trailer, which was full of dog food, separated from the cab and fell onto it's side.
Mr. Moss was cited for operating a vehicle without reasonable control.
The Leroy Township Fire Department, Ohio EPA, Environmental Management Specialist Inc., and Ohio State Troopers were on scene assisting with the fuel clean up.
The lanes on I-90 that were closed due to the crash have since reopened.
