Truck driver sentenced to prison for crash that killed mother

PORTAGE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Prison for the truck driver who caused an accident that killed a Maryland woman and seriously injuring her two sons.

Douglas Bouch will serve five years behind bars for the accident that happened in August of 2010 on the Ohio Turnpike.

The Slattery family was returning to Maryland after a family reunion in Cleveland when the accident happened.

Susan Slattery was killed. Her sons, Peter and Matthew, were seriously injured and treated at Akron Childrens Hospital.

Last summer, the Slattery family made a $100K donation to the hospital to create the Peter and Matthew Slattery fund, which will be used to provide financial resources for patients requiring additional rehabilitation services, such as physical, occupational, speech, expressive and other therapies.
