A MetroHealth doctor accused of fondling an 11-year-old girl.
Dr. Joseph Joyner was indicted on three counts of gross sexual imposition and three counts of kidnapping.
Joyner pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday and will be back in court on January 30th for a pre-trial. Dr. Joyner was also ordered to surrender his passport.
Prosecutors say the attacks occurred from August 13th, 2011 to September 20th, 2011. Joyner is accused of touching the young girl's breasts with his hand.
The victim was 11-years-old when the first attack happened. The attack did not happen at the hospital.
MetroHealth released this statement regarding Joseph Todd Joyner:
We learned about the situation this (Monday) afternoon. To our knowledge, this is completely unrelated to Dr. Joyner's employment at MetroHealth. Nevertheless, he has been placed on administrative leave indefinitely.
Dr. Joyner works at Metro as the director of Inpatient Services and co-chair of the Infectious Disease Control Committee. He is also an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
He has been placed on administrative leave from the hospital.
