City of Medina offers housing assistance

MEDINA, OH (WOIO) - The City of Medina, as part of their FY11 Community Housing Improvement Program, has established a program to provide Emergency Monthly Housing Assistance to city residents.

Selected applicants can receive a minimum of $250.00 and a maximum of $5,000.00 to assist in the payment of mortgage payments, utility payments, and delinquent taxes, if included in mortgage payments. Assistance is limited to a three month period. The maximum assistance for a three (3) month period is $5,000.00.

The following restrictions apply:

1. The property must be situated in the City of Medina;
2. The applicant must have a gross family income below 80% of the current median income for Medina County, (see CHIP income guidelines);
3. The applicant cannot own other residential property, including vacant lots;
4. The applicant must provide proof of ownership;
5. The applicant must be able to sustain their financial situation after assistance
This assistance is in the form of a grant on behalf of the applicant.

Financial assistance payments will be made directly to the creditor (mortgagor, utility company, Medina County Treasurer).

The Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority will be taking applications for this assistance on behalf of the City of Medina. Income requirements apply. To receive an application or to determine eligibility, please contact:
