SANDUSKY, OH (WOIO) -

Sandusky parents slapped with charges after leaving their newborn home alone so they could panhandle.

20-year-old Kimberly Whitcomb and 29-year-old Maurice Bonton were arrested on January 13th for begging outside of a bar.

After sitting in jail for over 16 hours, Whitcomb admitted leaving her 2-month-old home alone.

Officers immediately went to the couple's Perry Street duplex, and found the baby girl strapped in her car seat with a dirty diaper.

Both Whitcomb and Bonton are charged with child endangering and panhandling.

Social workers took custody of the baby.
