Firefighters rescue disabled woman from apartment fire

A disabled woman rescued from an early morning apartment fire on the city's west side.

The fire started around 6:30AM at the Spring Hill Villa Apartments on Jennings Road.

Crews rescued a disabled woman from her bedroom. She was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and is expected to be fine.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one unit, although several nearby units were damaged by smoke and water.

Evacuated residents were allowed back inside the building around 7:15AM.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
