February 1st is annually a big day in Northeast Ohio, as area football players officially commit to various colleges.
This year, Glenville is sending 16 players to the next level, including seven to D-1 universities. Devan Bogard is headed to Ohio State, while Willie Henry chose the University of Michigan.
At St. Ignatius, Blake Thomas also committed to the Buckeyes. The tight end, among 18 Wildcat student-athletes who celebrated National Signing Day on Wednesday.
The St. Ed's Eagles were well-represented as well, with highly-recruited offensive tackle Kyle Kalis committing, as expected, to Michigan. Kalis originally chose OSU, but rescinded when Jim Tressel was fired.
Another lineman who also changed his mind, Kyle Dodson, who was headed to Wisconsin before new OSU coach Urban Meyer swayed him to the Buckeyes instead.
