Drugs, alcohol suspected after driver crashes into North Canton building

NORTH CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

A 37-year-old believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he drove his car into a building.

The crash happened at the Schaub Electric building on Applegrove Street NW Thursday afternoon around 3:30PM.

Police say Keith A. Stanton, Jr. was traveling eastbound in the left lane when he crossed over the two westbound lanes, struck the curb, hit a traffic sign, then continued approximately 50 feet before striking and damaging the building.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

During the investigation, officers found drug paraphernalia and a harmful intoxicant in his possession. Alcohol use is suspected in the investigation and pending analysis from the Stark County Crime Lab.

He was released and cited to appear at Canton Municipal Court.

Stanton, Jr. faces charges of OVI, possession of drug paraphernalia, abusing harmful intoxicants, failure to reinstate and failure to control.
