Michael Burton sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to Aggravated Murder

LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) - Michael Burton plead guilty to aggravated murder Thursday and was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 20 years.

Prosecutors say in January of last year, Burton was babysitting 2-year-old Anthony Dabila, Jr. in a Robin Avenue apartment in Lakewood, when the mother of the victim arrived home to find her baby boy not breathing.

She called police immediately. Paramedics arrived and the victim was rushed to Lakewood Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed that the child's cause of death was asphyxia by cervical compression. The child also suffered blunt force trauma to the head, trunk, and extremities with soft tissue and vascular injuries.
