A 66-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train Saturday.
Cleveland Police, Fire and EMS were all called to the intersection of E. 26th and Lakeside at the railroad tracks for a report of a pedestrian struck around 8 a.m.
The male was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Norfolk Southern train operator told police he observed the male walking eastbound on the tracks and blew his horn. He attempted to stop the train.
The victim remained on the tracks and was struck.
The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
A next of kin notification has not been made at this time
The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
