In a surprising move, the Lake Erie Monsters released forward Hugh Jessiman on Monday. Jessiman lead the team in goals this season with 20.
Jessiman started the season on a 25-game contract. The Monsters signed him to another 25-game contract after the first ran out. The team let the second one expire on Monday.
Jessiman was a first round pick by the New York Rangers in 2003 but has appeared in only two games in the NHL. He will sign a contract with the Abbottsford Heat in the AHL.
He will be replaced on the roster by Peter MacArthur, who has been playing for Las Vegas in the ECHL. MacArthur played for Monsters head coach David Quinn at Boston University.
