Cleveland (WOIO) - Hall Of Fame catcher Gary Carter passed away at the age of 57. Carter had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor last May.
According to a Mets spokesperson, Carter died at a West Palm Beach, Florida hospice center.
Carter, known as "Kid," was an 11-time All-Star and a three-time Gold Glove winner during his 19 seasons with Montreal, N.Y. Mets, San Francisco and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He hit .262 with 324 homers and 1,225 RBI's in his career. Carter was inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2003.
