Men's opening round tournament games will begin on campus sites Monday, March 5th for seeds No. 5-No. 12, while Women's opening round tournament games will begin on campus sites Saturday, March 3rd for seeds No. 5-No. 12.
Quicken Loans Arena will host the second round on Wednesday, March 7th, the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8th and the semifinals on Friday, March 9th. With a revised bracket format in 2012, this four-day tournament will showcase the best of the best in Men's and Women's College Basketball. All three days will feature two afternoon Women's games and two evening Men's contests. The Men's and Women's Championship Games will be played on Saturday, March 10th.
The MAC Tournament will also continue to feature the ultimate pep rally as MAC FanFest returns to Tower City Center! Throughout the entire tournament, MAC FanFest is FREE and open to the public to allow fans the opportunity to interact with cheerleaders, mascots and bands from their favorite MAC schools and participate in activities including free throw contests, dunk contests, cornhole contests, tattoo booths, interactive inflatables and much more!
The 2012 FirstEnergy MAC Men's and Women's Tournament will be televised on SportsTime Ohio Wednesday, March 7th through Saturday, March 10th, with the Men's Championship Game televised nationally on ESPN2 on Saturday, March 10th. All Men's games, along with the Women's Semifinals and Championship Game will also be broadcast on WKNR ESPN Cleveland 850 AM.
In the 2011 Men's Championship Game, No. 6 Akron upset top-seeded Kent State, 66-65 in an overtime nail-biter to advance to the NCAA tournament. In the Women's Championship Game, No. 2 Bowling Green took home their second consecutive MAC Tournament Championship as the Falcons defeated No. 5 Eastern Michigan, 51-46.
