19 Action News camera was rolling Thursday as a man turned himself into police in connection with an infant assault.
This, after Cleveland Third District officers along with the Department of Children and Family Services responded Wednesday to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital for a child assaulted.
Sources say little Jayden Alexander's mom took him to the hospital after she came home and discovered something was terribly wrong with him. Jayden was reportedly in his father's care at the time.
After talking to medical staff, cops learned Jayden, just 8-days-old, had suffered six broken ribs. The baby boy is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
His father, Ernest Alexander, approached 19 Action News reporter Blake Chenault moments before he turned himself in.
"They said I was armed and dangerous. I wasn't about to take the chance. I have already been beaten up by police. I didn't hurt the baby."
Ernest Alexander was arrested on an Adult Parole Authority Warrant by East Cleveland Police Department. The Felonious Assault Child Endangering Case will be further investigated by the Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit.
