Man who ran red light killing woman has been charged

Cleveland Police say Jeffrey Rox has been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Felony Hit-Skip after a fatal accident that happened just after 2 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Eddy Road and St. Clair Avenue.

Police say when they arrived on scene, they found two heavily damaged vehicles a 2000 Ford Expedition and a 1997 Buick Skylark. The driver of the Expedition had fled the scene.

EMS responded to the scene and took the driver of the Skylark to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she expired from her injuries. 

Accident Investigation Unit Detectives were able to locate the intoxicated driver of the Expedition in the 15900 block of Whitcomb Avenue. The male was arrested for Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Felony Hit-Skip.

After investigating, police say the Ford Expedition was operating east bound on St. Clair Avenue in excess of the posted speed limit at Eddy Road failed to stop for the red light and struck the Buick Skylark which was operating south bound on Eddy Road with the green light. After being struck the skylark spun out of control and struck a metal pole.

The driver who died has been identified as 33-year-old Neisha Coleman of Cleveland.  The driver that caused the accident has been identified as 33-year-old Jeffrey Rox of Cleveland.
