WOIO Editorial: Blaming the Money

It's not unusual for politicians to blame their election losses on anything other than themselves and their message.  Democrats do it, republicans do it.  But to blame a loss at the polls solely on the basis of being outspent in a campaign is really an insult to voters. That's what democrats and public sector unions did after their loss in the recall election of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

Even though re-call supporters had a huge war chest, Governor Walker had even more money and the losers said that essentially walker and the republicans had bought the election. Well, this is an argument which proposes that voters are simply too stupid or too easily swayed to make an informed decision on an important issue. It obscures the fact that voters in Wisconsin may have agreed with walker and were persuaded not just by money but by principle.

Write and let me know what you think.  I'm Bill Applegate and here's the address.
