EUCLID, OH (WOIO) - The Natural Resources Defense Council has put out its annual report of dirtiest beaches in 2011.
Ohio monitors 63 public and semipublic beaches along 7.3 miles of Lake Erie shoreline. The state's beach water quality monitoring program is administered by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
Because of the large amounts of rain and run off in Northeast Ohio last year, many of Lake Erie's beaches exceeded the state safety standards.
