NORTH CANTON, OH (WOIO) - North Canton Police Officers were able to apprehend a driver after he slipped out of a patrol car during a traffic stop.
Police stopped a black Chevy Monte Carlo on Salway Avenue SW in North Canton just before 5 p.m. Friday.
During the stop, the driver Nickoles Wiley Holly Jr., 21 was detained in the back seat of a police cruiser while they searched his car for an investigation of drugs.
While officers searched his vehicle, Holly was able to slip out of a partially opened window of the cruiser and escaped on foot.
Officers along with the assistance of a Canton Officer and his canine unit conducted a search for the suspect. A Stark County Deputy also assisted with the search because the suspect fled into Plain Township jurisdiction.
About a half hour later, Holly was located hiding in a residence in the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive NW in Canton. He was arrested without incident.
Holly was booked on charges of Escape, Obstruction of Official Business, Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Open Container Prohibited, Driving Under Suspension, Broken Windshield and he was also wanted in a warrant for Petty Theft by Alliance Police.
