ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - An Elyria mother slapped with child endangering charges after allegedly leaving two small kids home alone while she was at the bar.
Police were called to an apartment on Washington Avenue on Sunday for reports of a child left on the balcony in the rain.
When officers arrived, they heard a small child crying outside. Police say the sliding glass door was open, but the screen was closed and broken, which prevented the little girl from reentering the apartment.
As the Fire Department arrived on scene, officers noticed a woman - later identified as 28-year-old Resha Logan - running through the parking lot.
Once Logan and the officers were inside the home, the little girl - whom was soaking wet from the rain - was brought inside from the balcony.
Officers discovered a two-month-old baby sleeping in a full-sized adult bed. The baby was covered in blankets and sweating profusely.
Logan said she was the mother of the baby, but the small child left on the balcony was her niece. She said her nephew was supposed to be watching the children.
According to officers, Logan also lied about the time she was gone. She first claimed she was gone only 5 minutes, and then said she was gone for a half an hour. She said she went to the bar with her sister and had a beer and a shot.
Police talked to the bartender, who stated Logan and another woman were there when she arrived for her shift, several hours prior to police being called to the apartment.
The nephew Logan claimed was supposed to be watching the children left before the women went to the bar.
Logan is currently out on bond. Lorain County Children's Services are now involved.
