CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland Heights man who robbed his own girlfriend in her Superior Road apartment was sentenced Tuesday.
Between April 23 and April 24, Benjamin Morgan, 42 robbed his girlfriend, who is confined to a wheelchair and suffers from Cerebral Palsy, after she refused to give him money and a diamond bracelet.
Morgan grabbed her arm and ripped the bracelet from her wrist, injuring her wrist, fingers and knee. He then grabbed her cell phone to prevent her from calling the police.
A few hours later, he returned to the victim's apartment, knocking on her bedroom windows to be let in. When the victim did not let him in, he pushed in a window air conditioning unit and climbed in through the window.
He stole money out of her purse, found her key to her personal safe and stole jewelry. He then fled the scene but returned later and was subsequently arrested.
In June, Morgan plead guilty to one count of robbery and one count of burglary. Tuesday he was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
