Police and SWAT train for school shooting

CANAL FULTON, OH (WOIO) - Canal Fulton Police and Canton Metro SWAT held an intense training session today at Northwest High School simulating a school shooting scenario.

"When things run smoothly its fast and then things happen in a relatively short amount of time so you have to respond quickly," said John Barabasch with Canton Metro SWAT.

He helped put the training together.

"This is a simulation but let me tell you something the adrenaline is pretty high here."

RENACTMENT: "Shots fired suspect down....bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang...let me see your hands!"

They ran through the drill, then went over the results.

The goal here they say, is to handle a potential situation as well as the first responders in Chardon.

Hopefully, they never have to put this training to use.
