Ray Of Hope: Indians Hold Off Tampa Bay

Cleveland (WOIO) - It wasn't quite the offensive explosion that helped them take 2 out of 3 from the Angels (the Indians scored 21 runs in their last two games against L.A.), but the Tribe still went deep a couple of times against the Rays on Thursday night, and that was enough, as they held on for a 3-1 series-opening win.

Shin-Soo Choo led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run, Michael Brantley followed that up with a solo shot of his own in the second, and Josh Tomlin did the rest, holding Tampa Bay to one run on two hits over seven innings.

Travis Hafner, just activated on Wednesday, homered in the 8th for the insurance run.

Chris Perez came on in the 9th to record his 24th save.
