LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) - Two men are recovering after their car goes airborne in Lakewood.
Just before four Tuesday morning, Lakewood Police say they attempted to pull a driver over for expired license plates.
The driver of the Porsche, a 24-year-old man, took off west down Detroit Avenue. Police took off behind the car.
The driver eventually crashed through the trees down the Detroit Road extension and went down into the Metroparks, crashing onto Valley Parkway.
The car landed upside down on its roof.
The driver is being treated at Fairview Hospital for a broken back and internal injuries.
The passenger, a 47-year-old Fairview man, is being treated at MetroHealth Medical Center for a broken arm and other injuries. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Thomas C. Smith and Matthew J. Vaneck. Police have not released who was actually driving though he was cited for OVI. Other charges are pending.
As for the Porsche, it's now a mangled mess.
