Store owner shoots and kills 23-year old would-be robber

Police in Cleveland are investigating a deadly shooting. Cops were called to E. 70th and Cedar around 2 PM Tuesday afternoon.

Police say 35-year old Jamal Suliaman, owner of Abe & Son's corner store, shot and killed 23-year old Johnathan Ward. Cops say Ward, who got off a couple of shots of his own, was trying to rob the store.

Suliaman was shot in the arm and taken to Metro where he was treated and released.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second deadly shooting at that same location in four years. In 2008 Kamal Sulaiman of North Ridgville was killed when he was shot in the head during a robbery. Sulaiman was working as a clerk. At that time the store was called K & J Market.

No arrests were ever made in that case.

People in the neighborhood tell 19 Action News that the Suliaman's, the one killed in 2008 and the one involved in Tuesday's shooting, are brothers.
