Mentor man accused of luring kids in court

MENTOR, OH (WOIO) - The 53-year old man accused of threatening kids with sex was in court Friday morning.

Mentor police say Kevin Gallagher walked up to four young kids on Noble Court and told them he lost his cell phone in the woods, and asked for help finding it.

The kids agreed to help, and followed Gallagher into the woods. Gallagher is then accused of taking off his clothes, and telling an 8-year-old boy he was going to rape him.

A mother then called for the children, and they ran home unharmed.

People living in the Noble Court neighbor are sickened.

"I feel it's some sick stuff," said Glen Zele. "There's some weirdos out there."

Gallagher told police he told the child he was not going to rape him. He pleaded not guilty to three counts of child enticement.

Gallagher was placed under house arrest and will be required to wear a GPS tracking device until his next court hearing in August.

According to Mentor Police, Gallagher was arrested in 1993 and charged with gross sexual imposition, but he ultimately pleaded to assault.
