PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - An 18-year-old arrested after allegedly trying to break into a Painesville Township pawn shop.
Cops were called to the Pawn Shop on Mentor Avenue Thursday around 11 p.m.
The Deputy arrived at the business within seconds and observed a man walking out from the rear (north) side of the business. The Deputy was able to detain the man without incident until backup units arrived. Upon checking the business, it was found that entry had not been made.
The man was identified to be 18-year-old Nyles Sealey who resides in Painesville City. Sealey was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody for Underage Consumption.
A search of Sealey's possessions revealed a rock in this right front pocket. He offered no explanation for having the rock. The rock was inspected and was noted to have what appeared to be fresh paint transfer on the tip area. After further investigation and inspection of the business, it was found that there was fresh damage to the rear (north) man door, door handle, and lock mechanism consistent with being pounded on with the rock. The paint transfer from the stone also matched to paint on the damaged door.
Sealey was subsequently booked in at the Sheriff's Office jail for charges of Possession of Criminal Tools, Attempted Breaking and Entering, Criminal Damaging and Underage Consumption.
