The accident happened July 17th at 9:30 p.m. on Albrecht Avenue in Springfield Township.

19 Action News has learned Anthony Weakland was walking eastbound on Albrecht Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that did not stop.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol followed up on an anonymous call received July 18 which led to the recovery of a suspect vehicle from a residence in Portage County. Forensic evidence was collected from the vehicle to confirm involvement.

The Weakland family has established the Anthony Weakland Memorial Fund through First Merit Bank and donations can be made to the fund through any local branch. The fund will be used to cover funeral expenses.
