It's the hottest book out there right now, Fifty Shades of Grey, is flying off store shelves. In fact
the erotic novel is the fastest selling paperback of all time -- so why were so many people showing up in Westlake to burn the book?
One reason it's so popular -- sex -- and this book is full of it.
Radio personality from the Alan Cox Show on WMMS say the book is bad for marriages and particularly bad for men.
"They cannot live up to this book. It is becoming an issue where they're more interested in his, and the guys just going to bed alone," said Chad.
So they called on listeners who complained about the book to bring their copies to the Panini's in Westlake for a massive book burning. Very few actually brought their books to burn, but almost everyone had an opinion about the book.
"It's a smutty smut book. I didn't think it was terrible."
"Honestly I only got about halfway through it. I just thought it was boring."
In the end only about a half dozen copies of Fifty Shades of Grey were destroyed, plus one Nook. Turns out the event did more to promote the book than suppress it.
